The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Native Americans asked our design team to create the feeling of Andreas Canyon and by using mature Washingtonia filiferas that were relocated and stored for over a year off-site. The majority of the relocated palm trees weighed over 25,000 pounds and were carefully examined by an arborist and maintenance company during the transplanting process. The final landscape installation includes a variety of the species found in the Indian Canyons including creosote bush, cacti, and brittle bush. Boulder and decomposed granite selections emulate the Indian Canyons and are carefully placed in a natural formation. Fire rocks are a new attraction that can be seen from both inside Starlight Lounge and as one enters the valet parking area.
