CESAR CHAVEZ MEMORIAL PARK
Coachella, CA
HDG partnered with Community Works for the initial master plan of this memorial park project. The site of the memorial is located on the corner of Avenue 50 and Avenida De Oro. The intent is to draw people into the space where they will find Cesar’s statue surrounded by a family that includes a farm worker, woman, and two children. Cesar is leading them through the plaza to replicate his pilgrimage to Sacramento. The family illustrates the multi-generational impact his life has made and continues to make today in the Coachella Valley and throughout California.
This project is a prime example of the master planning/workshop process in the design and development phases. Two community workshop meetings were held to review initial design concepts, and the presentations were given in English with Spanish translation. The final design was presented to the City Council in PowerPoint. The final design and construction were modified by the City from this initial design.
LEGACY PARK - OFFICER ANDRE MOYE MEMORIAL
Moreno Valley, CA
We designed this “pocket park” in Moreno Valley, located in the residential community Legacy Park, to serve as a small and publicly accessible space for community members to enjoy.
Within the park is a bench dedicated in loving memory to the late Officer Andre Moye, a California Highway Patrol officer who dedicated his life to service and profoundly impacted the Riverside County community.
